About Home in Hell's Kitchen

Welcome to Home in Hell’s Kitchen, where neighbors come together to create something truly special. We’re more than just an events space—we’re a growing movement to bring people together, foster meaningful connections, and build a sense of belonging in the heart of New York City.

At Home in Hell’s Kitchen, we believe that everyone deserves a space to feel at ease, connect with neighbors, and celebrate life’s moments—big or small. Our mission is to create spaces for social, creative, and sustainable living that are welcoming to all. Whether you’re joining us for a workshop, a cozy dinner party, or one of our seasonal celebrations, every gathering is an opportunity to build community and rediscover the joy of coming together.

What We Do

Currently, we’re hosting pop-up events in various locations around the city, each designed to bring people together and foster a sense of community. Our events fall into three key categories: creative, sustainable, and social. Our creative events, like collage parties and clay magnet-making workshops, are all about exploring your imagination and walking away with something handmade and meaningful. Sustainability-focused events, such as our book exchange, plant exchange, and clothing exchange, focus on sharing resources and promoting eco-friendly practices. And our social events, like cozy dinner parties or festive holiday gatherings, are simply about connecting with neighbors, building relationships, and enjoying each other’s company. While not every event covers all three aspects, each is a step toward creating a stronger, more vibrant community.

In the future, we envision a physical space that serves as a public hub for connection, creativity, and sustainability. Picture a vibrant room filled with reclaimed furniture and local art that you can purchase, surrounded by plants and natural beauty. A space where you can meet, collaborate, and create freely. Think of it as a blend of a gallery, a store, and a community living room—open to all, dedicated to fostering belonging and making a positive impact.

Why It Matters

We’ve seen firsthand how a little intention and care can transform a space—and how those spaces can transform communities. At its core, Home in Hell’s Kitchen is about reclaiming the “third place”—a home away from home that’s neither work nor where you live, but a space to exist, connect, and thrive.

Everything we do is guided by the principles of sustainability and accessibility. From upcycled furniture and handmade crafts to sliding scale pricing for events, we aim to ensure that everyone feels welcome and that our impact on the planet is a positive one.

How We Started

Hi, I’m Bryson Kernan Clark, the founder of Home in Hell’s Kitchen. The idea for this project came to me when I noticed how rare it is to find accessible, welcoming spaces—places where you can just be without the expectation of spending money. If you want to meet your friends, the default is often going out for drinks or food, which can be expensive and comes with an unspoken time limit. Home in Hell’s Kitchen is my response to that gap: a blend of creativity, sustainability, and community designed to create spaces where people feel like they truly belong.

The seeds for this idea were planted during my time at Fordham University. I had the opportunity to put on an art gallery show my senior year, but instead of a traditional exhibit, I decided to transform the space. Using reclaimed furniture, plants, and warmer design elements, I turned a normally unused room into a homey, vibrant community hub. People gathered, connected, and enjoyed the space so much that it got me thinking: why aren’t there more places like this? When the show ended, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I could make that kind of space permanent.

In a class called “Art, Design, and Politics,” I got the chance to dream up a community-purpose-driven project, and the idea for Home in Hell’s Kitchen first took shape. My classmates’ reactions were overwhelming—they said, “Wow, please do this! I wish this was real.” Later, in my M.S. program, I honed the concept further in an entrepreneurship class, and again, people urged me to bring it to life. Their enthusiasm was the push I needed to start turning this dream into reality.

Home in Hell’s Kitchen is still evolving, but the vision remains the same: to create spaces where people can meet, connect, and feel at home, blending sustainability, creativity, and community every step of the way. Thank you for being part of this journey—I’m so excited to see where it goes next.

Let’s Work Together

Whether you’re stopping by for an event, collaborating with us on a project, or simply following our journey, we’re so glad you’re here. Let’s create something beautiful together—one connection, one gathering, and one small step at a time. Let’s make Home in Hell’s Kitchen a home for everyone. ✨
